About
An independent guide to Maui
Maui Travel Agency is written by people who plan Maui trips for a living and got tired of guides that read like resort brochures. We started keeping honest notes — which beaches are actually worth the drive, which “must-dos” aren’t, where the calm water really is — and turned them into this site.
What we stand for
Independent. We accept no payment from resorts, tour operators, or agencies to be included or ranked. We pay our own way, take no sponsored placements, and update guides when the island changes — including after the 2023 Lahaina wildfire.
Current. Maui changes. Reservations get added, roads close, and businesses come and go — especially after the 2023 Lahaina wildfire. We date every guide and update them when the island changes.
Respectful. Maui is home to its residents and sacred in many places to Native Hawaiians. We try to name places correctly, point you toward visiting responsibly, and never treat a living community as a backdrop.
How we’ll make money (and how we won’t)
This site is free to read. In time we may earn a commission when you book a hotel or tour through a link — at no extra cost to you, and never in exchange for a better review. We’ll always disclose those links clearly. Today, the focus is simply building the most useful Maui guide we can.
A note on the writing
“The Maui Travel Agency editors” is our shared editorial voice. Guides are researched against official sources, on-the-ground reporting, and traveler accounts, then fact-checked before publishing. See how we research for the details, and tell us when we’re wrong.
